In every sense of the word, Maxlink’s current business practices are modeled after Numedia Sdn Bhd, a leading software development company that was formed by Brian. Therefore, it is fair to say the history of Maxlink actually goes back to 1994, the year Numedia was established.
Numedia was formed ot market a suite of signature verification solutions that was developed in-house. From a single customer using signature verification, i.e. Maybank, Numedia went on to capture over 50% of the local banking industry. It came as no surprise that established banks such as Alliance Bank, AmBank and Affin Bank eventually became major customers of Numedia’s signature solution. As proof of Numedia’s ability to deliver world-class products, the signature solution won the PIKOM “Software of the Year” award in 1994. Subsequently, another product from Numedia called Acclaim (Automated Cheque Clearing and Imaging Solution) was a finalist in the PIKOM “Software of the Year: Financial Application” in 1998.
At its peak, Numedia has customers in 8 countries across Asia, comprising major international banks such as Bank of America, ABN Amro and Bank Nasionale de Paris. The other core business of Numedia is the supply of touch screen information kiosks called Nusa. Brian Loo is the designer of the Nusa range of kiosks, which include the Nusa, Nusa II and Nusa V models. Since its inception, Numedia successfully supplied the Nusa kiosks to major organisations such as Ministry of Defence (Mindef), Kementerian Luar Bandar, Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia and Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange Information Gallery. |
